15 th May 2005 Open Day

This major event in the East Sussex calendar now hosts over 800 visitors on the day. With plenty of directional road signs locally and ample off-road parking. Families come from far and wide to enjoy the peaceful rural setting.

The Rescue Centre is fortunate to be situated with outstanding views over the AONB of the High Weald while nestling in the tiny hamlet of Brownbread Street with its Ash Tree Inn.

Martyn, one of our Trustees, & David chat while the Senlac twirlers perform last May

The visitors are able to enjoy both the distant unspoilt view at the same time as the arena events are going on. There is plenty of hot food, buns and ice cream and Leslie always comes with her yoghurt s and tasty dairy sweets.

This year there will be a display of WWII military vehicles as well as the attractive blue and white uniformed Senlac Twirlers. Martyn Robinson will once again stun the crowd with his attractive models strutting the catwalk. Would-be young models are also invited to have-a-go.

Of course one of the attractions for children is the bouncy castle together with face painting and pony rides. Of all the rescued animals waiting to have carrots and noses stroked it is the donkeys rescued from Greece that prove a great attraction. Entry is £2.50 each with children under 10 free. There's fun for all the family!

So much to do so do much to come!

Open Days

at Brownbread Horse Rescue

15 th May & 11 th Sept. ‘05

10.30 to 4pm

Open your garden?

It's not important how big your garden is. Even if you have a small back garden we are asking that you choose a date this year to have it “Open” for, say 3 hours, to raise funds for Brownbread. All you need do is provide tea and biscuits or cake with an entry of, say £1. You'd be surprised that many people just turn up to be sociable and have somewhere to go and chat to someone. Put a poster on your gate a week or two before, (we can supply these) and ask your friends and neighbours to drop in saying that you are raising funds for horse rescue. Several of our Friends have already arranged a date. If only half our “Friends” group (now 600+) had, say, only eight people turn up that would be

300 x £8 = £2,400. !

If you haven't got a garden then make it a coffee morning; same thing £1 per person.

Oscar, not Wilde but very tame

After many happy years with his carer Oscar has transferred to a new home at Redcoat Farm, Catsfield where he will be pampered and cuddled by all the visitors that go to the farm shop
